Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone

Mark VI. There are no other two words that are more synonymous with vintage saxophones. Produced by Henri Selmer Paris from 1954 to 1974, the Mark VI is by far the gold standard in the saxophone world.

This particular horn is by far one of the nicest horns that has come through our shop. Produced in 1965 (126,XXX serial)

This horn is not only a treat to look at, but to play as well.  This horn is in stunning shape for its age. The original lacquer is crisp with approximately 95% remaining.

There is usual wear on the palm keys, octave key, and thumb hook. Players side "buckle rash" but nothing out of the ordinary for a horn of its age (only light surface scratches). Pearls feels great and almost like a new horn! The only drawbacks for this horn are some slight lacquer wear on the bell. It seems that the Low E-flat key post was re-soldered at one point. Original serial-stamped neck is in fantastic shape with no evidence of pulldown.

This horn has a crisp-mellow tone. Not too bright, but not as dark as the earlier serials. It has good intonation throughout and really pops on the top. Nice and tight action for a horn that hasn't been used in quite some time.

This horn was stored extremely well over the years and does not require a full re-pad at this time. Adding to this near museum quality piece is the presence of the original Selmer Soloist C* mouthpiece. This horn also comes in the original case in good shape. A saxophone technician has given the horn a full professional set-up. Pick up this piece of saxophone history today, before it is too late!

Recently received new pads and tune-up.
